A Transcriptomic Approach to Viral Disease Research

Results

  • constructed cDNA library of polyadenylated and non-polyadenylated transcripts
  • sequenced and analyzed 90% of cDNA libraries
  • constructed MCMV transcriptome database – to be launched upon completion of sequencing data
  • confirmed that similar to HCMV; MCMV genome features antisense transcription but not so extensively as HCMV
  • identified several new splice transcripts and confirmed previously published ones
  • the most abundant antisense transcript is a new splice variant which appears to play a role in immunoevasion
  • identified several new antisense transcripts (partially or completely overlapping known genes)
  • identified a number of new miRNAs
  • started in vivo studies
